Find the best sleeping bag/pad for your next outdoor adventure using our independent reviews and ratings. It is terribly heavy for backpacking and definitely not rated correctly. If you just can’t afford a better bag…DO NOT GO OUT IN COLD WEATHER OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. The only way you would sleep well in this bag is if you are under 5’5″ and very slender and use it summer nights or maybe push it to early fall. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless I wanted them to freeze and get a terrible night’s sleep. I nearly froze to death on the trail, and craftsmanship is garbage (to put it mildly).
The bag on its own is very comfortable down to the 30-degree range. Comfort was assessed by sharing each sleeping bag with multiple testers to garner diverse opinions. We also conducted specific tests involving ease of movement, bag dimensions, and natural padding. For warmth, we got more scientific with an ice-block test, a laser thermometer, and side-by-side timed tests on the same chilly night. Features and packed size were the final performance areas of interest, and we broke features down into a list and rated each one.
The Alps Redwood is by far the most comfortable out of the single bags, followed by the Polara 3-in-1, Big Agnes Echo Park, Teton Deer Hunter, and Teton Celsius XXL. Other top performers include the The North Face Wawona Bed, REI Siesta Hooded, and the Coleman Multi-Layer. The Multi-Layer has removable layers of padding and soft fabrics, as does the Polara 3-in-1. When you’re already far from the comforts of home, it’s appreciated when your sleeping bag can increase your comfort level, not compromise it. That’s why we put all these sleeping bags through multiple comfort tests. Despite having twice the amount of body heat, we were surprised to see none of the double bags we studied could match our warmest single bag’s warmth.
While neither bag matched the performances of our top three, both are still quite cozy and are certainly warm enough for three seasons. I notice this isn’t the first ozark trail canopy review with this complaint. The zipper broke on my warm weather bag on the second night out. Too bad too because overall I’ve had good luck with Ozark Trail stuff.
This bag is perfect for the campground and can also be brought into the backcountry. However, its down insulation and increased capability come at a higher price. It doesn’t pack down as small as many modern, mummy-shaped backpacking sleeping bags, and it also lacks some of the extra features often provided by car-camping bags.

Even better, it can be carried backpack style, which makes it super easy to transport — although we admittedly looked more like we were going paragliding than camping. I cannot believe that I wasted 160 dollars on some junk. By the time we got back from camping the next weekend three out of four sleeping bags had the zippers broken. I’m so disappointed with this product that I advise anyone buying sleeping bags not to even look at Ozark and buy Coleman instead. The frontrunners of our lineup are the Alps OutdoorZ Redwood, Teton Sports Polara 3-in-1, and REI Siesta Hooded 20. The Redwood’s value is sourced from its amazing warmth, size, and comfort.
Too bad the buyer at Walmart has gone to sleep on quality control on this product. Of the two-person bags we tested, the Nemo Jazz 30 Double was our favorite for its plush comfort, followed closely by the Kelty Tru.Comfort. Both bags are similar in design, but in the end, we simply preferred the Nemo’s interior and exterior fabrics over the Kelty. Nice Ozark Trail Warmfoot 75” by 33” Polyester fiber batting insulation.
