Genesis bikes range: carbon race bikes and stunning steel frames

So many models are offered that it can be hard to choose exactly which bike is best for you. We’ve split this guide up into four large sections; road bikes, adventure bikes, cyclocross bikes, and utility bikes, detailing each of the bikes in the range and how they differ from the others. If you’re a dyed in the wool roadie or complete ‘cross-head, you can jump straight to the section that interests you most. In the beginning, back in 1977 there was a small suburban bicycle shop on West End Lane, West Hampstead in North West London called Beta Bikes. Errol has spent time in the USA and had seen the emergence of mountain biking and decided to bring it to the UK.

In this range there are also women’s specific models – in addition to the unisex ones. With these bikes, the saddles have been changed for a women specific model as well as shorter cranks and narrower handlebars being specced to better suit female proportions. Despite being already expansive, the genesis bikes brand continues to grow, with the British company striking out even further to the gravel/adventure cross market. An impressive fork at this price point and sensible kit are great and the wheels finish the package off nicely but the main attraction here is the geometry. Packaging SystemGenesis created a holistic packaging system that was impactful and highlighted specific features across a product offering that reached almost 3000 SKU’s. Your bike frame & fork are protected under our Lifetime Warranty policy.

Although the two bikes in this section might both be called the ‘Vapour’ with only the epithets ‘Alloy’ and ‘Carbon’ differentiating them, there are actually significant distinctions to be made. If you’re looking for a fun bike that can also do the grunt-work when required, this is the one for you. But if you want a dedicated workhorse, the Croix de Fer or Equilibrium will probably suit you better.

An internally geared hub goes a long way to weather proofing the drivetrain, as do the full housed gear cables that help stop dirt degrading your shifting performance. Not quite mainstream, yet still hugely popular, genesis bicycless are a British brand loved by steel-aficionados and adventurers alike. Well thought out geometry, good looks and great handling make the Genesis Core 26.4 stand out as a great bike at a good price. The first thing you notice is that the cockpit is comfortable, it just feels right. Not too long and well balanced with none of the ‘too much weight on the wrists’ feeling that sometimes comes on trail hardtails.

More solid than earlier Phantom ebikes, does not fold and has reinforced battery pack supports. High end RockShox fork with lockout, upgraded pedals (that don’t fold) and hydraulic Avid DB…… These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental team Madison Genesis.

Simple to operate with LED console and twist throttle only, no pedal assist or LCD…… The battery powering this bike delivers ~36 volts of power and 9 amp hours of capacity. That’s kind of average and the pack is a bit heavier than some equivalent designs because it uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry vs. Lithium Manganese or Lithium Cobalt. The pack is kind of large and you can actually upgrade it to be even larger if you want, just be careful over large bumps given the limited strength of just one pair of support struts vs. higher end ProdecoTech bikes. Product PresentationFrom free-ride, long-travel mountain models to fun city bikes, the presentation is a key attractor on the sales floor. It’s really hard to give safe and accurate technical advice over the internet!

We may be able to supply a digital file of the decal you need but you will need to prove you own the bike. Genesis bikes became renowned for their use of steel tubing and ethos for function over form. The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001. Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006.

The dropper seatpost, slacker head angle, shorter chainstays and clearance for tyres up to 50mm wide on 650b wheels are responsible for this more playful handling. With a 2×9 Shimano Sora groupset and mechanical disc brakes, there are notable differences to the higher end Croix de Fer. But these won’t present an impediment to getting out and using the frame for the huge variety of applications it has the capability for. Gravel riding, endurance road riding, cycle-touring, commuting, these are all still possible on this bike – it’s just a more accessible platform to get started with.

The matte black finish with neon accents is sure to turn heads on any trail. The ProdecoTech Genesis 500 is one of the larger folding electric bikes around and it’s also one of the cheapest. As with most Prodeco ebikes this one uses a large gearless rear hub motor and rack mounted battery that sits just behind the seat post. It’s not the most elegant or well balanced design but it keeps the price low and works well with the simple twist throttle drive system. The Genesis comes in one sort of medium size frame and a brushed aluminum color but is functionally the same as the Storm 500 which comes in gold. Established UK brand Genesis produce some of the best quality road and mountain bikes on the market.
